Could Your Future Self Be Affecting Your Present Self?

quantum observationOr Can You Change Your Past?

We all assume, based on the second law of thermodynamics, that time moves in one direction.

We are born, we grow old and we die.  This is also known as entropy, or the concept of energy always moving towards a more unorganized state.

Well I’m rereading The Intention Experiment for the second time, and I highly recommend the book to anyone interested in the science of thoughts affecting things.

I wrote a review about The Intention Experiment by Lynne McTaggart, and you can read it at your leisure.

Part of the book reviews some of the many amazing scientific experiments carried out in the world of Noetic science.  In fact Lynne’s book was mentioned in Dan Brown’s latest novel, The Lost Symbol, when he describes the Institute of Noetic Science.

There are too many wonderful experiments to mention, but one which really grabbed my attention was the simple measurement of a quantum particle, or to be more precise, three simple measurements of a quantum particle.

You might have read my posts about how two particles can be entangles through what is known as quantum entanglement. But in this study, the scientists only studied one particle.

The concept is quite basic; there is a given in quantum science that any particular particles will evolve at a specific rate, and these rates change depending on the type of particle we’re talking about.

This is a perfect example of our concept of an arrow of time.  The evolution of a particle from birth to death is set to proceed at a specific pace and cannot not be altered, assuming our current understanding of quantum physics.

So two scientists, Vlarko Vedral and Caslov Brukner, created an experiment to test this theory.  They isolated a single particle and used a mathematical formula to work out the polarization (evolution) of the particle.  Then they measured it at a set point, and it met their expectation of calculated polarization.

Then the calculated where the polarization should be at another specific point later in time and measured it again; and again it met their expectations.

Then they went back and recalculated their original polarization point and found that it had changed.

The very act of making the second observation changed the position of the first measurement!  What?

How can an event later in time change a position earlier in time?

The whole idea defies everything we understand about time!  The scientists concluded that at the quantum level time as we know it, or assume it to be, does not exist.

There are other experiments, done by other scientists, that prove what we currently believe happens only at the quantum level of tiny particles, actually does happen at the macroscopic level to things as large as molecules, but that is another post.

The inference here is that taking a measurement, or simply observing something at a specific point can potentially change it’s past. Yes, I know it is a total mind game to try and reason this through, because we’ve never believed that time could move in a different direction than we’ve always perceived, but quantum science proves it can.

Just be aware that what you are thinking right now can possibly have an effect your past, and what you think in the future may be affecting you right now!

Think about that…;\
