Excerpt from Reading Between the Lines, The Hidden Power of Language:
Does every cloud have a silver lining?
“Once again we lift the veils of obscurity imbedded in our language to provide some answers to explain the ancient symbolism in this age old cliché. The first question is why is the lining silver?

Why not gold or diamonds or many items of the ancient world considered so much more valuable?
We need a framework to conduct a proper analysis of western arcane symbolism. We will use the following table for reference in this and future articles:
Monday = Moon = Silver
Tuesday = Mars = Iron
Wednesday = Mercury = Mercury
Thursday = Jupiter = Tin
Friday = Venus = Copper
Saturday = Saturn = Lead
Sunday = Sun = Gold
The metal silver has been associated with the moon by a myriad of cultures and belief systems. Both are considered symbols of the feminine, passive energy of the cosmic soup as compared to the fiery, masculine energy symbolized by the sun and gold.
The moon’s 28 day cycle mimics the menstrual cycle, while the luminescence of silver is reflected by the moon, comforting us in the darkness of night.
But how does the moon or silver affect us as individuals?
The moon moves our mighty oceans everyday, so you would be foolish to believe it doesn’t affect you, as your physical body is largely composed of water molecules. Monday used to be called Moonday.
Silver can be found symbolically in many belief systems, including the only metal that can kill a werewolf or 30 pieces of which were traded for the betrayal of Jesus. It’s the defined gift for a 25th wedding anniversary and is considered conducive to channeling spiritual energy by mystics.
The Hindu chakra system associates silver with the third eye, or brow chakra. Indeed, it does have the highest electrical conductivity of all metals! Many of you have silver fillings in your teeth due to its strength, malleability, longevity and benign effect on the physical body.
However, if we leave the physical concepts of the moon and silver behind, and consider the reference to the feminine symbolism, we should immediately understand the natural comfort and nurturing associated with this reference.
Silver symbolizes the moon, which symbolizes the feminine (yin) aspect of our universe, which expresses the acceptance of struggle and growth through experience.
Death brings rebirth.”
The question is, are you looking for the silver lining when the clouds come into your life?
