Response to “Shit Happens! And How to Deal With It…”

Although I wrote the content for the content my post yesterday, quite awhile ago, I felt it prudent to let you know the universe tested me, and my post, the very next day. 

I’ve been having some troubles with my car recently, so I took it to the mechanic today for a ‘major service’.  Of course I get the phone call mid morning to let me know what they found…

dunh…dunh…dunhhhh…

”I’m afraid Mr. Chappell, the diagnosis isn’t good.  The brakes, the crankshaft, the this the that…we’re looking at around $2500.00” 

As you can imagine, it was quite a negative kick to my day. 

Remembering the blog post from the previous night, I stopped and smiled.  I was being tested.  So I asked a few questions and came to the positive conclusion it was worth the $2500 worth of repairs.

Why?

Because my plan had simply been to give the car a quick fix, then trade it. I expected the fix to cost me $1000 and with an additional $200 in taxes, transfer fees, etc.  So, I’ve tried to deal with the ‘shit’ and find a positive outcome to this unexpected expense…it actually ended being $2641.87…but who’s counting.

The reality is I do enjoy driving the car, and wasn’t looking forward to trading it in. So in fact, I’m $359.13 better off, and keeping the car I prefer to drive.  I hope this didn’t waste your time…I’m just sharing with you that I try to follow my own advice…;)
