Real Time SEO | Google and Twitter | What Does It Mean For You?

I decided to invest this weekend in tweaking the blog to get more visitors.  Problogging is an intriguing goal, so hopefully the investment will be worth it.

One thing I did learn from the hours of research was the cutting edge concept of Real Time SEO!

Jack Humphrey runs BlogSuccess and has an online radio show called the Friday Traffic Report through his newsletter.

Last Friday he and Jim Stroud discussed how Google was now indexing Tweets!  They were doing live research on the show, so it’s well worth a listen if you’re at all interested in the next phase of blog marketing!

It seems Google is slow-stepping into it by only including very specific keywords like ‘obama’ or ‘tiger woods’, but if you set your search settings to ‘latest’ in your Google settings, then do a search on certain hot topics, you’ll find a scroll bar of tweets coming in live…very cool actually.

It also seems the more popular you are on Twitter, the more highly you’ll show in the Tweets on Google.  This has some huge ramifications as to how information can be pushed around the net.

Another thing I learned was that if you do a Google search and include a hash mark (#) directly before the word, you’ll be able to see ALL Tweets associated with that specific word.  Now it only works if whoever submitted the Tweet used the # in front of their keyword, but again some very interesting search news for you.

I’d like to thank Jack Humphrey and Jim Stroud for sharing some brilliant insights into some of the potential impacts of this new online partnership between Google and Twitter!

If you’re a blogger and not Tweeting, you might want to change your marketing tactics!
