Need Your Help With My Upcoming Book’s Title – Survey Post

I need your help to find the best title for my upcoming book!

That’s right!  You can be a part of the creative process by completing the survey below.  You tell me which title you would buy!

The working title for the book has been Reading Between the Lines, The Hidden Power of Language.

The book will fall into the ‘self-help’ category.  Each chapter title is a well known cliché, like ‘The Grass is Always Greener On the Other Side’ and ‘Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining’.  Within each chapter I present an insight into what is actually being communicated by the cliché.

Some clichés offer knowledge of empowerment, while others are very limiting in their message.  Some communicate esoteric knowledge about our selves, while others offer deep insights into others.

The book itself is a result of eight years of my own self-development, meditations, interviews, travels and research.  I endeavor to provide some fairly high-level information, using real scientific proofs, to back up my philosophy.

The book is meant to offer a path for personal improvement by asking you the reader, to take a very serious look at how your body and mind actually function.  Once you’ve learned the basics of how your mind and body really work, the book then guides you toward the application of this knowledge to improve any aspect of your life which requires change.

The question I have for you, is which (if any) of these titles ‘jumps’ off the shelf at you???

Which book title would you buy today if you saw it?

Please refer to the poll below and choose which proposed title touches you:

I vote for a combo of title and subtitle:

SPEAK YOUR MIND: THE HIDDEN POWER OF LANGUAGE

  • Hi Connie, thank you for your submission! It uses a cliche and has a hint of mystery…I like it…;)

  • Behind the Cliché – What we say and what we mean.

  • Hi Joan, Thank you for your suggestion! You obviously have some experience publishing non-fiction, and I’m curious if you were involved with the titles and cover designs of the books promoted on your website?

Some feedback I’ve received, regarding using the word ‘cliche’ in the title, is that many people don’t actually know what a cliche is…hence my example of asking that qustion as part of the title…I look forward to your thoughts!

Curtis, I think I’m not crazy about actually having Cliche in the title because – until your wonderful book explains them! – most people think of cliches as trite or uninteresting. They might be turned off before they reailize what it is all about…….

That said, however, what Joan suggested as a title, “Behind the Cliche – What we say and What we Mean” – could make a very intriguing title for an ARTICLE. Just my humble opinion.

  • Hi Connie, I see lots of marketing opportunities that will spin off the first book…that’s why I’m so excited!
